Protea Hotel Kruger Gate

Description

The Protea Hotel Kruger Gate is located in safari territory on the banks of the Sabi river, adjacent to the gateway to the vast Kruger National Park. The 96 guestrooms all offer views of the unspoiled bush land which surrounds the complex and have African inspired decor with dark wood floors and furnishings. All rooms include air conditioning, satellite television, minibars, fridges and tea and coffee making facilities.
The hotel maintains the safari theme in its restaurants and bars. The Lapa restaurant serves regional game specialities for dinner in the open air, with guests summoned by a dinner bell and seated amidst atmospheric fire lanterns. On Saturday nights, mealtimes are spiced up by performances by Shangaan dancers. Other restaurants include the Kudyela and the Shilovo Bar, the latter doubling up as an evening cigar lounge with chess boards and fireplace. Guests can explore the Kruger National Park on foot with an expert guide, or go for an open vehicle game drive in the bush. Several hides around the hotel allow for close up viewing of the many indigenous species of bird, while for a real outdoor experience guests can camp beneath the stars in the tree house. There is a swimming pool on site which affords impressive views over the Sabi River and the Kruger park; other leisure and sporting activities include miniature golf, tennis and volleyball courts, table tennis and a children's playground. For business guests, there is a choice of conference venues for up to 220 delegates which can be configured to specific requirements. Kruger Mpumalanga Airport is 150 kilometres from the hotel.
