El Mirador Acapulco

Description

Flanked by trees, gardens and the cliffs of La Quebrada, the El Mirador Acapulco in Acapulco, Mexico, opened in 1933 as the city's first opulent hotel. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean on one side and the bay of Santa Lucia on the other, the hotel offers great views of the famous La Quebrada cliff divers who dive from 130 feet into turquoise blue waters. Guests are only a short walk from the beach and ideally situated for fishing, sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling and windsurfing.
The El Mirador houses three pools, one of which is filled with sea water. Guests can enjoy the best dishes at La Perla Restaurant, along with stunning views of the cliff divers and sunset. Each daily show includes three to six divers, with the least experienced divers jumping from half way up the cliff, and the more experienced divers leaping off the very highest edge. The fear factor arises when there is not enough water in the gorge, and divers must make sure to enter the water in a position that does not cause bone injuries.

The 133 rooms and nine suites at the six story El Mirador feature authentic, remodeled Mexican tile and offer satellite television and bottled water.
