Sukhumvit

Description

Sukhumvit offers a popular alternative to traditional Bangkok. Stretching west to east from central Bangkok to the suburbs, it begins where Ploenchit Road ends and continues all the way out of the capital Bangkok and beyond. Sukhumvit Road is the longest road in Thailand, both it and its many 'sois' (side rooad) are poor on traditional tourist attractions but rich in shopping, eating and nightlife. Many fashionable restaurants, bars, air-conditioned malls, luxury hotels, serviced apartments and night clubs give the area a distinctly modern, cosmopolitan, aspirational flavour. Some of Bangkok's most sinful spots, red-light districts Nana Plaza (Soi 4) and Soi Cowboy (off Soi 23) are also located here. Want to calm down for the busy day? Go to stylish cafes, atmospheric restaurants and day spas that hide down many of its sois. The elevated Skytrain (BTS) stretches along most of Sukhumvit Road downtown stretch.
