Impressive buildings such as the Cathedral of St. Ursus make Solothurn unique. The old town with its Mediterranean flair offers attractive shopping, cafés and restaurants as well as a wide range of cultural activities. The town has a range of cultural attractions going far beyond the regional, including the Solothurn Film and Literature Days. A little outside the town is the romantic Verena gorge with its chapel and hermitage, a popular destination for walkers.
